Girls Day 2022

Girls day

After two years of a Pandemic with virtual-only events, it was our great pleasure to host the Girls Day 2022 in-person in our office in Bonn. 20 Girls between the age of 12 and 15 participated this year. Inclusion and Diversity are one of the most important topics in our company culture.

Since the Software Industry is still a “male-dominated” place to work, it’s a matter of our hearts to show Girls how exciting and diverse jobs in a Software company can be.

We started the day in our “Arena”, where we got to know each other by figuring out which things and hobbies we have in common.

Luca Kurze (Customer Success Team) kicked off with a brief introduction about LeanIX and our success story. Afterward, Negin Mahmoudi (also part of Customer Success) described what Customer Success means at LeanIX and what a typical day as a Customer Success Manager looks like.

Different job opportunities were followed by Marie Hanowski (Senior Talent Acquisition Specialist) who explained her career path and what the people team looks like and Marlene Jung who showed what she most likes about her job as a Product Manager.

Considering the importance of sustainability, Helena Laubenstein and Christian Hoermann explained some facts and figures regarding our initiative GreenIX, all-around environment, and sustainability.

Now it was time for the "Hour of Code". The goal was to show the Girls what coding means and how much fun it can be. Led by Dirk Johann, one of our Sales Engineers, the Girls had the chance, in teams of two to code Flappy Bird, Frozen, or Minecraft adventure. It was amazing to see how fast the Girls could adapt and work together in a team although they didn’t know each other before.

After this exciting morning, it was time for some Pizza, interesting conversations about future plans, and playing some table tennis.

The afternoon kicked off with a brief welcome by our CEO Andre Christ who described how he started LeanIX and what fascinates him about the Software world.

Not it was time to get creative. In teams of 4-5, the Girls were given the task of coming up with their own product idea around the topic of sustainability. Identifying concrete problems around sustainability and developing products that tackle these challenges was difficult, but with great team effort all teams came up with great product ideas. Motivated by these ideas the Girls started to draw, describe, and handcraft prototypes of their products for the final presentation. During this presentation, the other Girls and LeanIX team got to know the final products ranging from mobile applications to track and reduce carbon emissions - to physical products such as re-usable shipping containers to reduce waste.

We enjoyed the day and hope that we as LeanIX could provide great and fun insights into working at a software company. See you all in 2023!
