Employee Story – Patrick, Full Stack Developer

Patrick

Who are you and what do you do at LeanIX?

I’m Patrick and I’m a Full Stack Developer at LeanIX. I started as a Frontend Developer using AngularJS and React.

During the rewrite of our core application, I mostly worked on the new frontend application which we developed using the new Angular framework. My main focus during that time was – together with the other Frontend Devs - to lay the foundation architecture of the frontend code. Now we are extending the core application with new features and for that, I also got more involved in backend tasks as well. I’m currently in the Team “Tornado” which focuses on the performance of the application and its reporting capabilities.>

Since when are you here?

I’m with LeanIX since October 2015.

Why do you like LeanIX?

I like working at LeanIX because it is a modern (and “cool”) working environment. Everyone has basically the same mindset on how software should be built. We are using modern technologies like Docker, Angular or GraphQL and we are working in an agile way following SCRUM methodologies. Furthermore, the whole company and everyone is trying to continuously improve in order to deliver better products with better quality, which I really like. Everyone can come up with an idea and the team decides whether it’s good or not, there is no rigorous top-down decision making at LeanIX.

The best thing about your job is…?

That I can work with likeminded people and we can shape our working environment as a team.

If you are not working, where do you hang out?

When I’m not working I try to be as much as possible outside, going for a walk, sitting in the sun or having a barbecue with friends. Besides that, I like playing the drums in a hardcore metal band and doing some gigs from time to time.

How does your ideal work day look like?

The ideal work day for me is when I know in the morning what features we as a team want to build during the day. Doing some whiteboard sessions together to get an idea how we want to work on the feature and then doing some pair programming. I really like it when I have built something new or fixed a bug at the end of the day and I really enjoy doing these things as a team.

Where is your favorite place at LeanIX?

It’s the room called “Oslo” where we have a couch to do code reviews or pair programming. It’s a place where I would like to spend at least some hours during my ideal work day.
