In the beginning of November the 9th annual EAM conference took place in Berlin, organized by Marcus Evans. More than 50 EAM experts and managers exchanged their experiences and challenges during the two-day conference. Many top-class presentations were held by experts of companies like 1&1, Axel Springer, Hamburg Hochbahn or Coca Cola. LeanIX contributed with a spotlight presentation and a workshop on Agile Enterprise Architecture Management.
Among others the Enterprise Architects Aneta Nowobilska and Andreas Joebges gave an interesting insight in the digital transformation at Axel Springer. They described how an architecture strategy for a digital company is defined and implemented. They detailed methods and best practices to transform an architecture vision supporting at the same time flexibility and rationalization. To realize this vision Axel Springer trusts in the cooperation of modern and pragmatic tools like leanIX für EAM.
The aspects of modern tools were demonstrated by Jörg G. Beyer talking about the “Top 5 Trends of modern EAM Tools”. Using the web platforms for hotel reservations like HRS as an example he shows how context-sensitive searching can be designed without forcing the user to learn a complicated query language. While many solutions in companies often can be used by experts only, a new trend can be perceived. Successful applications can be used by everybody. A prominent example is the camera of a Smartphone. Today more photos are taken with a Smartphone than with all others (special) cameras. This trend can be transferred to the discipline EAM: years ago it was sufficient to give the needed information to a few specialized IT architects. But today it is much more important that this information reaches all staff in the IT and even beyond. This is possible by user interfaces which can be learnt easily by everyone.
