Rethink Item Europe

Over 150 CIOs and IT decision makers from all over Europe got inspired, shared their experience and had many good chats at the Rethink! ITEM Europe 2016 conference in London. We are proud that LeanIX contributed its share to this inspiring information exchange as the main sponsor.
LeanIX Co-CEO André Christ speaks about disrupting the old-fashioned EA tool market

“Enterprise software used to be about making existing work more efficient. Now, the opportunity for software is to transform the work itself”. Based on this motto, André shared many anecdotes how innovative startups have disrupted enterprise software in many markets during his keynote presentation.

Strategy Innovation
Case studies from Netflix, Amazon and Zalando show what digital champions do differently: Agile Development, Microservice Architecture and Containerized Deployment. André provided many examples, that made one thing clear. Lasagne architectures are out, ravioli architectures are in. Rather than building big, monolithic architectures, modern technology is based on a service oriented architecture composed of loosely coupled elements - so called microservices. Such an architecture allows shipping of releases in days, hours or minutes.

LeanIX is pioneering all these new technologies and redefining Enterprise Architecture. Gone are the days when long-term plans and models were sufficient. Enterprise Architects need to answer question such as: How many users like the new feature in my Application? Which areas of the Application are error prone? Will the backend be able to handle the user increase?

This refreshing view on Enterprise Architecture was well received by the audience. And in the end there was agreement: You can’t build your IT architecture today with yesterday’s tools and stay in business tomorrow.

CIO workshop on how to manage technology obsolescence

Simon Barth from LeanIX facilitated a workshop on how to manage the risk from technology obsolescence. After sharing some best-practices of working with several clients on the challenge of spotting and upgrading outdated technology, a lively discussion evolved around the CIOs’ challenges on establishing transparency about outdated technology, good ways to manage and mitigate risks and solutions to automate lifecycle data.
